I was born in
Philadelphia
,
Pa.
and grew up in
Denver
,
Colorado
. I started painting at age
11, although I was drawing from about the age of 5. I can’t remember a
time when I did not draw. We
moved back east when I was 14 years old, and settled in
Philadelphia
. In High School I enjoyed taking Art Classes and did plan to become a
commercial artist. Life takes different paths and I ended up taking a
commercial course and married shortly after graduating.
I didn’t start painting again until the later part of the
1960’s. That didn’t last
long and life changes put my art on the back burner until moving to
Florida
, in 1997. Then the Adventure began!
I have had no formal training and for
the most part am self taught. I
have workshops and have benefited greatly from them.
I worked mostly in oils and pencil until moving to
Florida
9 years ago and that began my journey into watercolor paintings.
I also enjoy mixed media, oils and acrylics as well.
I have won many awards and have been
actively involved in the Local art scene. I was also invited to be one of
the first artists to exhibit in Tavares at “The art in the Square”
I
served as President of the Leesburg Art Association for 2 years as well as
a member of The Cultural Arts Council for 2 years also.
Within the past few years I have given
workshops in Eustis and at the Villages and have also taught at The
Leesburg Center for the Arts.
I also enjoy writing poetry and have
several poems published. I
also have given speeches to The Young Woman’s Club of Orlando and also
to the local chapter of “The Daughter’s of the American Revolution”
I feel very fortunate and blessed as I
am able to enjoy my art and have been able to share what I have learned
with others. If I can help
someone reach the satisfaction and enjoyment of art that I have, I will
truly feel like I have climbed on of Life’s higher mountains!
The view is beautiful! Savor each moment and enjoy! Be sure to pack
your paints!
