Born in Washington D.C., I grew up in Maryland. I graduated
from Prince George Community College in Largo, Maryland with an
Associates Degree in Fine Arts with High Honors. I studied
ceramics with John Krumrhine. I took a workshop with Paul
Soldner. Other than that I am mostly self-taught. After working
for Verizon for over thirty years, I retired in 1998 and moved
to Howey in the Hills, FL.
I have won numerous awards for both painting and pottery. I
have been in several juried shows including The Leesburg Fine
Arts Festival and The Villages Fine Arts Festivals. I belong to
several art leagues.
I’m currently teaching at The Villages College and have
taught at the Mount Dora Center for the Arts and Hawthorne
retirement community.
I typically work in the cone 5/6 range and generally using
commercially available glazes alone and various combinations.
I feel that as a ceramic artist my purpose is to explore the
myriad possibilities of functional ceramics. I do this by
working with texture, surface treatments and shapes.
